Accessibility statement
Everyone should be able to read a Mac guide, whatever they use to browse. Here's where we are.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have not had the site independently audited, and we make no claim of formal certification or conformance.
What we've done
- Every page is a normal, server-rendered web page with real headings, landmarks, and a skip link. The desktop interface is an enhancement.
- The menu bar, dock, desktop icons, search and every window control can be used from the keyboard. Shortcuts: ⌘K / Ctrl K for search, ⌘ or Ctrl plus B, S, P, G, R or J for the hubs.
- Reading mode and full-screen mode remove the desktop chrome; Esc leaves either.
- On phones there are no windows at all, just a standard page and a tab bar.
- Light and dark themes, a visible focus ring, and text contrast chosen to meet AA.
- Animations respect the “reduce motion” setting.
- Forms have labels, error messages tied to fields, and a summary announced to screen readers.
Known limitations
- Dragging and resizing windows needs a pointer. You can still zoom, minimize, close or full-screen a window with the keyboard, and you never need to move a window to read.
- Some illustrations, such as the storage bar, are visual examples; they are labelled and described in text.
- Pages are written in English only.
Report a problem
If something is hard to use, tell us what you were doing and what you use to browse through the contact form (choose “Technical issue with the site”). We'll take reports seriously and fix what we can.
